Sonic Foundry chief upbeat
Sonic Foundry officials say sales prospects for its Mediasite products are "absolutely terrific" and the Madison company expects to break even later this year. "Our customers love our technology. We have outstanding technology; it's the best in the market," chief executive officer Rimas Buinevicius told about 75 people at Sonic Foundry's annual shareholders meeting Thursday at Monona Terrace. Colleges and universities are Sonic's primary customers, including University of Michigan, Arizona State University, Stanford and Cornell. Mediasite feeds presentations over the Internet and archives them, and that's especially useful for students juggling work and family responsibilities, too, Buinevicius said. "Students want this technology, they need it," he said. "We think there's a huge market out there." .

Arizona News: I'm Jerry, I Stole From My Parents
Hook further stated, "There were people honking their horns in support and others who made sure I watched them dial 911. Although a few police officers and detectives drove by we didn't have any trouble from anybody; and Jerry, other than being a little cold and crying a bit, I think he's getting the message". Jerry, one of two children in this rural American household, lives with Steve who has proudly taken on the role of being a responsible father figure. "We thought this would be effective for the short term, so it may continue for a few days before and after school at different intersections. This is a very bright boy that should be given all the love in the world. We know that we must be vigilant, but damn its tough," he concluded. .
True to his 'roots,' true to his 'grooves'
His parents played gospel music in their church and his uncle headed a local R&B band, the Blue Notes. He started playing saxophone at 8, and soon formed the Junior Blue Notes with his younger brother Melvin on drums and older bro Kellis on trombone. By the time he was in the sixth grade, the band was performing between sets at the Blue Note's gigs. By the time he graduated from college with a degree in music, he had perfected his hard-driving sound, a gritty, insistent, rhythmic incantation that he perfected with Melvin. "His second year, I talked him into doing the freshman talent show, just drums and saxophone, no guitar or piano," Parker recalled. "We used to fool around like that at home, this Africa kind of sound, where I'd kind of scat to change the tempo. We had that connection.
Thank Newsnight it's Friday
AIDS activists are warning that an increasing number of simultaneous infections with HIV and tuberculosis has created a deadly co-epidemic that is spreading across sub-Saharan Africa. Researchers say half of all new TB cases are now infected with HIV, and health care systems in the region are struggling to cope. In the Western Cape, a child is a hundred times more likely to contract TB than in the developed world. A shocking new development. It's worth watching the markets and the Mexican floods. And are there any other stories you think we should be covering? A lighter story to add to the mix would be fun. .

Math-challenged Sheriff Joe Arpaio can’t account for the $41 million ...
Magedson began distributing a flier, promising, for $250, to help people fight against a corrupt City Hall or companies that had screwed them. He says he never actually charged the fee; instead, he used it to weed out people who weren't serious about pursuing their claims. He began to hone a process of just how to fight The Man, to develop a formula that really worked. He was planning to write a book. (Today he sells that book, a slim paperback, from the Rip-Off Report for $21.95. Not to give away a trade secret, but the formula basically comes down to threats to picket, and then picketing.) One day in the mid-'90s, visiting a shop owned by some of his former swap-meet tenants, he says, he met a woman who designed Web sites. Hearing about his unusual line of work, she asked him, "Why don't you make a Web site?" And that was the start.
YoYoGames.com celebrates 100,000th registered user in just 10 months
YoYo Games is excited to announce that more than 100,000 members have already joined the YoYoGames.com development community, still just in its beta stages. That's 10,000 new registered users a month for each of their first 10 months online, and the growth is accelerating. "We're very excited about this landmark" says Sandy Duncan, CEO, "registered users may represent less than 10% of our traffic, but they're very special to us. These are the guys making games and generating the content that makes YoYo what it is. We believe we're now the biggest casual games developer community anywhere in the world, and that's pretty amazing" The evidence certainly suggests that the YoYo user-generated casual gaming formula is striking a cord, and the reason is clear. YoYo's approach brings games development to people who previously couldn't even have considered it.

If you're a pack rat who doesn't take a lot of pictures, check your media cards to see whether you left a copy of the image there. Or if you've got a video iPod, perhaps you've stored a copy on it.
